Higher Standard of Dress for All
Dixon Middle School Students!
Dixon Middle School is a first class, premium center for education. To ensure a high standard of learning and instruction at Dixon, parents and administrators have established a higher standard of dress. School dress standards are known to improve academics and behavior while increasing student confidence and satisfaction. Such dress expectations also help to prevent gang affiliation and violence. Providing a safe learning environment is our number one priority. We want each student to feel safe and be able to concentrate on his or her studies, homework, and lessons more than anything else. This dress code will help us reach our goals as we strive to give our students the best education possible. Thank you for helping your student understand and follow the standards that have been set:
This revised dress standard will take effect on the first day of the 2009-2010 school year. There will be no grace period. Students will be expected to arrive to their first class appropriately dressed according to the standards outlined. If you have
any questions or concerns, please call 801-374-4980. ________________________________________________________
An Academic Plan to Help Students Succeed at Dixon
We want to help our students do well academically. The following are ways we plan to give support to struggling students who need additional focus and encouragement. Parents you can provide your students with encouragement, help, and support too.
Level I Intervention: (2 weeks into each term--failing class)
- Teacher will send progress report home with student and contact parents.
- Teacher will meet individually with student to establish an academic success plan. (Arrangements with teachers to make up work, Power Hour, tracker support, etc.)
*Over the next two weeks, teacher will meet with student to determine progress. If student is still failing, move to level II.
- Teacher will make phone contact with parents and refer student to counselor.
- Counselor will review homework plan with student and mail progress report home.
- Counselor will assign student to mandatory homework help in Power Hour 3 x per week.

*At the end of two weeks, counselor will remove student from mandatory Power Hour if student is passing all classes.
Level III Intervention: (6 weeks into each term)
- Counselor/teacher will refer student to administration.
- Administration will set up parent-teacher-administrator conference to discuss intervention plan.
- Student will be required to attend lunch hour homework help for two weeks.
- Student will be required to attend Grade Recovery held in the library from 3-4pm daily for two weeks.
* If grades are current at the end of two weeks, student will be removed from Grade Recovery.
Level IV Intervention: (Student fails the term)
- Parent-teacher-counselor-administrative conference to discuss possible class change.
- Student will start the term in mandatory Power Hour 3 days a week for two weeks.
- Student will be referred to appropriate credit intervention.
- Student will be referred to level II intervention if grades are not current for two weeks.
Together we can accomplish great things.
We try to keep the Dixon web page interesting and informative. If you find any errors or have suggestions, send an e-mail to Mrs. Moody at leannm@provo.edu.
