My photo with author Rick Riordan who was so gracious about doing a school visit.
English classes
My English classes are just finishing their final book report and I am so excited to see who has read the most pages. I will be rewarding those students on May 23 when we have a team activity in the afternoon.
We are currently doing fairytales and folklore in periods 1,3 and 5 while honors English is reading Shakespeare's The Tempest. They are looking forward to performing their scenes for the class.
Great new read
Fablehaven III--Wow it's great!!! Someone or something has released a plague that is transforming beings of light into creatures of darkness. Seth discovers this when he takes a forbidden, adventure hike to see the Nipsies with newell and Doren, the two statyrs. Newell is bitten by the Nipsies and truns dark. In the meantime, Kendra is inducted into the Knights and is sent on an assignment to a secret preserve Lost Mesa. She is assigned to recover a lost artifact and bring it back to Fablehaven. Kendra meets with a young man named Gavin, who also has special powers. They use their gifts to defeat the haunts of the mesa and get past a dragon. They discover the artifact has already been taken to Fablehaven. With Tanu, Colter, grandma and grandpa turned to shadow there are few safe places. Will Kendra and Seth find answers? Will the return of their Uncle Patton help them? Will Kendra be able to negoiate with the fairies? This is a great intense read and I loved it. The best so far. It is a terrific, moving story.
